Why Kids Love Kaanapali Beach Hotel

Tell parents not to be surprised when little ones ask for at least one more day at Kaanapali Beach Hotel (KBH) on Maui — the possibilities for good times both in and out of the sun, sans tech devices, are nearly endless.

Kicking off the adventure is “Aloha Passport for Kids,” which pint-size clients can collect at check-in from guest services. Offered gratis, the program takes kids to “destinations” throughout the property to earn a stamp of a Hawaiian word in their passport as well as a gift, which might be a KBH water bottle or a miniature backpack. Guests ages 6 to 12 will have 12 destinations to visit, while those ages 3 to 5 explore eight destinations. Infants ages 2 or younger will receive a passport card with their Hawaiian name, along with a sand pail and other beach toys.  

Besides splashing in the property’s whale-shaped pool, families can also partake in the daily complimentary activities that have helped KBH earn its title as Hawaii’s “most Hawaiian hotel.” On deck are lessons in ukulele playing, the Hawaiian language, hula dancing, “Hularobics” (a hula-inspired aerobic exercise), lei-making and more.
