With Borneo’s rainforests shrinking due to palm oil cultivation, this is a destination for the kids to experience while they still can. On Wild Planet Adventures’ Weird & Wonderful Wildlife tour, families can see the last of this majestic ecosystem and the wide variety of animals that call it home, including proboscis monkeys, gibbons and pygmy elephants. The trip will make a special trip to an orangutan sanctuary and special night excursions to see the forest’s cute nocturnal primates, the slow loris and the tarsier. Clients will also visit the Orang-Sungai, or “river people,” at Sukau and stay at Sukau Rainforest Lodge, rated among the world’s top 50 jungle lodges by National Geographic Adventure. The tour is 12 days and has departures from March through September.
