Focus On Family

Jun 01, 2006

It’s all about family at Napili Kai Beach Resort. The 10-acre Maui beachfront property takes the family-friendly concept to the max with a variety of services and activities specifically designed for fun and flexibility.

At the heart is the property’s complimentary “Keiki Club” for children during the summer season. Offered daily (except Sundays) from mid-June through late August, as well as during Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter/spring break, the supervised program is open to children 6 - 10.

From 10 a.m., the two- to three-hour fun fest features Hawaiian games, nature walks, swimming sessions, family putting contests, coconut painting and other arts and crafts.

Wednesday night is Movie Night for children, allowing parents to enjoy a sunset stroll and a leisurely dinner on their own. Available to property guests on a complimentary basis, the Keiki Club requires 24-hour advance reservations.

“Parents like the focus on Hawaiian activities plus the informality and fun of the program,” notes Diane J. Farnsworth, director of guest operations.

Featuring spacious rooms, an array of recreation for all ages and a friendly, relaxed ambiance, Napili Kai has long been a popular choice for families. The low-rise resort presents 163 hotel rooms, studios and one- and two-bedroom suites with private lanais.

“It’s a great family property for many reasons,” Farnsworth remarks. She points out that with four pools and 10 acres of land, Napili Kai has a low concentration of guests at any one location. “Families can create their own special spot. And the beautiful beach is perfect for swimming and snorkeling or sandcastle making.”

At Napili Kai, children stay free up to the maximum occupancy in a room, and cribs or rollways are complimentary. The resort’s unique “Family Studio” units provide plenty of extra space all in one room for families with young children.

Ninety-six percent of Napili Kai’s rooms feature ocean views, and most include kitchens. For comfortable family dining, the resort’s oceanfront Sea House Restaurant is right on the water’s edge.

The resort also includes four swimming pools, two shuffleboard courts, a boutique spa, fitness room, large ocean view whirlpool spa and two putting greens with complimentary putters.

Guests enjoy complimentary use of beach gear, making it easy to grab snorkels and masks to experience the beauty of the undersea world right in front of the resort. Guests can snorkel, boogie board, body surf, beach comb, explore tide pools, chase ghost crabs or build sandcastles just steps from their room.

For larger gatherings, Napili Kai’s Family Reunion Package is packed with benefits. “In the last twelve months, 70 families stayed on the family reunion package where they received the room of their choice, family t-shirts and a sitting with a professional photographer,” reports Farnsworth. The plan is available year-round excluding the Christmas/New Year’s holiday period.

She remarks that families also appreciate the flexibility. “They can have as much together or alone time as they would like. They can even have their rooms all in a row, or spread throughout the property for privacy.”

Holding to its “no nickel-and-diming” philosophy, the sprawling beachfront property provides complimentary parking, in-room high-speed internet access, weekly activities and morning service of coffee, iced tea, lemonade and fresh pineapple at the Beach Cabana.
