8 New Hotels in China to Visit This Summer

May 15, 2017
8 New Hotels in China to Visit This Summer

Hotel brands are opening properties fast and furiously in China to take advantage of the growing demand from visitors. And, as an added incentive to book a trip there, both Hainan Airlines and United Airlines have recently launched new routes from Los Angeles and New York, making it easier than ever for advisors to plan a client’s visit.

For travelers looking to explore new accommodation options, there are plenty of new properties that will be up and running this summer. Here are eight of our favorites.

Anantara Guiyang Resort (Guizhou)
Back in February, Anantara unveiled another Chinese resort in Guizhou province, a popular summer destination for Chinese travelers due to its mild temperatures. The 218-room Anantara Guiyang Resort features guestrooms, suites and one- and three-bedroom pool villas in a serene, forest setting. It also offers a fitness center, a kids’ club, two pool bars, a full-service spa and three restaurants, which include Thai and traditional Chinese options.

Doubletree by Hilton, Xiamen-Haicang
In the seaside city of Xiamen, a new, 301-room Doubletree by Hilton property is set to open this summer. The hotel will feature Sweet Dreams bedding, substantial meeting space and NoDu, a restaurant inspired by traditional noodle houses in the area. Ninety percent of guestrooms rooms offer bay views. Guests will also have access to an indoor swimming pool and a 24-hour fitness center.

Four Seasons Tianjin
Four Seasons cut the ribbon on its first property in Tianjin earlier this year. Located in the city’s Central Business District, the luxury hotel’s debut is perfect for the city’s growing corporate travel scene. On-site Italian restaurant Cielo has a Michelin-starred chef at the helm, along with an open kitchen complete with its own walk-in, dry-aging room for meat. Since it is only a 30-minute ride from Beijing via high-speed train, this is a great weekend getaway for those wanting to escape the frenetic capital.

Hilton Jiuzhaigou (Sichuan)
In April, Hilton Jiuzhaigou Resort opened in Sichuan province. The hotel, which is set in the Min Mountains and on the edge of the Tibetan plateau, features 426 guestrooms, suites and villas. All rooms come equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi access, 49-inch LED televisions, rain showers, complimentary breakfast and more. The surrounding area is home to a UNESCO World Heritage National Park.

Hilton Linzhi Resort (Tibet)
Hilton Linzhi Resort, which opened in March, is Hilton Hotels & Resorts’ first hotel in Tibet. The resort, which is located between the Himalayas and Yarlung Zangbo River, features 220 rooms and suites, a private cinema, a kids’ club, a spa and a pool. It also offers a nine-hole minigolf course and is close to the airport and other popular sites in Tibet.

Hotel Jen (Beijing)
Hotel Jen, part of the Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts brand, is scheduled to open this summer, bringing the company’s playful and contemporary spirit to Beijing. The property, which has loft-inspired designs, will be located in Beijing’s Central Business District and is part of the prestigious China World Trade Center, a shopping hub that features malls, offices and restaurants. As the first of the brand in Beijing (and the third in mainland China), the 450-room property will also be home to the only gastropub in the Central Business District, and it will offer a large health club with an indoor pool, a boxing ring and fitness studios.

The Ritz-Carlton, Haikou (Hainan Island)
Golfers should head to The Ritz-Carlton, Haikou, a newly opened resort on Hainan Island (known as the “Hawaii” of China). The golf resort — the first of its kind in China — is located on the 350-acre Blackstone course at Mission Hills Golf Club in Haikou district, which is also home to China’s national windsurfing and sailing teams. The beautiful seascape around the property adds to its appeal. The resort has 175 rooms in addition to a dozen private villas and a clubhouse.

The Yuluxe Sheshan, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel (Shanghai)
In January, A Tribute Portfolio, a Marriott Brand, unveiled The Yuluxe Sheshan, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel, located near Sheshan National Forest Park. The 325-room converted property is the first Tribute Portfolio property in China, and each of its rooms boast views of Sheshan or Moon Lake. Clients can feast on Cantonese, Shanghai and Sichuan cuisine at on-site Yu Palace restaurant, which features 11 private dining rooms. Other hotel dining options include a Mediterranean restaurant, a European-inspired cafe and two bars. The property also plans to offer curated experiences for guests, such as bamboo walks in the nearby park.
