Asia is one of the fast growing regions worldwide and, as more travelers head to Asia in the coming years, hotel companies and properties are working hard to accommodate them. This summer, clients will find a number of new properties, renovations and promotions from which to choose — all the more reason for them to head to the East.
China: A New Four Seasons and Summer Savings in Hong Kong
The Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at West Lake, Four Seasons’ fourth property in China, is set to open in late summer. The resort is located on the historic West Lake and was designed to resemble traditional Chinese pagoda structures. The property will feature 81 rooms and villas; a spa specializing in Chinese and Asian therapies; and Jin Sha restaurant, spotlighting Cantonese and classical local cuisine. The property will be led under industry veteran Rudolf van Dijk, who will serve as general manager.
To celebrate its grand opening, the property is offering a Grand Opening Package from Oct. 1 through Dec. 31. It includes a $73 spa, food and/or beverage credit per person, per night, for up to two guests and complimentary Internet access. Rates begin at $322 per night for a Deluxe Room.
The new Hangzhou property is just one of eight properties in China that the Four Seasons plans to unveil within the next few years. Openings are currently scheduled for Guangzhou, Shanghai Pudong, Beijing, Shenzhen, Qingdao, Suzhou and two planned properties in Sanya.

Sofitel also has plans to open new properties in China this year. Last month, it opened the Sofitel Dongguan Humen Oriental, which features 443 rooms. Later this year, Sofitel will also open the Sofitel Guangzhou Sunrich, which will feature 496 rooms. Both properties will offer a covered swimming pool, a spa, a fitness center, various restaurants and bars and dedicated event and meeting space. Currently, Sofitel has a network of 23 properties in China.

In Hong Kong, The Upper House hotel is offering a Summer Retreat room rate through Aug. 31 for $373 per night. India: New Ways for Clients to Relax and Unwind and a New Sofitel
In New Delhi, The Park Hyderabad, which just had its soft opening in March, recently introduced four new signature bath treatments for in-house guests to enjoy in their own hotel rooms. The baths were specially designed by the hotel’s Aura Spa staff with herbs and essential oils to help guests relax and de-stress, and are set-up in the deep-sink bathtubs in each hotel room’s bathroom. Each treatment costs approximately $21. The 270-room flagship property also features a 3-D horizon pool, three restaurants, two lounges and two entertainment venues.

At the end of 2010, Sofitel plans to unveil its first property in India, the Sofitel Mumbai Bandra Kurla, which will be located in Mumbai’s financial district. It will feature 302 rooms, five restaurants and bars, a spa, a fitness center, a ballroom and several meeting rooms.
Korea: Shilla Seoul’s New Meetings Package
To celebrate the reopening of its luxurious meeting venue, Yeong Bin Gwan, The Shilla Seoul is offering a special Business Meeting/Conference Package for $190 per person, for a minimum of 15 delegates. It includes overnight accommodations at The Shilla in a Superior Room with conference facilities and amenities for the day, coffee breaks and lunch. Yeong Bin Gwan was originally built in 1967 to host foreign state guests and once served as South Korea’s official state guest house, hosting nearly 40 heads of state from around the world. The building, modeled after a traditional two-story Korean mansion, was recently remodeled by designer Peter Remedios to serve as an events venue for weddings, banquets, meetings and conferences. The building now features a contemporary interior design and state-of-the-art banquet facilities.
Thailand: Deals in Hua Hin and Bangkok

Vietnam: A New Sheraton and the Moevenpick Hotel Saigon Reopens
Last month, the 30-story Sheraton Nha Trang Hotel & Spa opened on the south central coast of Nha Trang, Vietnam, offering 284 rooms. It offers 10 different room categories, ranging from deluxe rooms to executive suites, and each room features a balcony. Next month, the Moevenpick Hotel Saigon is expected to reopen on Aug. 1 following an extensive renovation project that first began on March 8. The project was designed to reduce the property’s power and water consumption as well as improve guest services.
