Hong Kong’s new designer boutique hotel, The Luxe Manor, has won
its first accolade, inclusion in Conde Nast Traveler magazine's
annual ‘Hot List’ of the hottest, sexiest hotels, restaurants, spas
and nightclubs to open around the world in the past year.
The luxury hotel with a “surreal” concept styled after a European
mansion is the only hotel in Hong Kong included in the Hot List
2007.
With the most high-tech features of any hotel in the region, the
159-room manor in Kimberley Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, is hailed as a
“spirited alternative to the grandiose chain hotels normally
patronized by Hong Kong visitors”.
The judges commented: “There's more than a touch of Salvador Dali
and a dash of Bladerunner to The Luxe Manor.”
High-tech innovations earn a special mention, especially
Internet-friendly TVs “in a gilded mirror above a faux fireplace”
and wireless-enabled telephony throughout.
“The six suites ratchet up the surreal experience, variously
decorated to imitate a Bedouin tent, or with mirrored wallpaper,”
said Conde Nast.
Signature restaurant Aspasia also earned praise for “solidly
Italian haute cuisine” helmed by the Michelin-starred Roland
Schuller, formerly executive chef on Christina O, the yacht once
owned by Greek tycoon Aristotle Onassis.
“It is a great honor to earn this recognition with such a
prestigious accolade,” said general manager Wallace Chiu said.
