Nearly a decade after the Park Hyatt Tokyo was catapulted to fame in Sophia Coppola’s film “Lost in Translation,” the property continues to offer an unparalleled experience for Tokyo visitors.
Residing on the top 14 floors of the artfully designed Shinjuku Park Tower —Tokyo’s third-tallest building — the Park Hyatt Tokyo is frequently lauded for its dramatic views of the city and Mount Fuji. All of the property’s guestrooms, restaurants, bars and even its athletic center have been designed to give guests maximum access to those views.
Where the Park Hyatt Tokyo really shines, however, is in its ability to create a totally serene environment, making it a welcome haven for guests who need a time out from Tokyo’s kinetic energy.
Indeed, visitors must walk through the hotel’s in-house library before entering the lobby, and although there is no librarian to shush guests, the room provides a calming transition for those entering the hotel.
Adding to the serenity, the hotel’s immediate vicinity serves up a residential feel, although it is located in Tokyo’s bustling Shinjuku neighborhood. Shinjuku Station — the world’s busiest train station — is about a 10-minute walk from the hotel, although Park Hyatt also runs hourly shuttle service.
Park Hyatt Tokyo rates start around $400 per night. Through Dec. 17, the hotel is offering a fourth night free for guests who book and stay three consecutive nights.
