Rose Hall Blooms

Aug 30, 2008

This winter, Jamaica will be home to the new Solis, The Palmyra Resort & Spa. The new property introduces the luxury Solis Hotels & Resorts brand to the Caribbean and promises to meet the needs of high-end clients.

Set on 16 oceanfront acres on the grounds of a former Jamaican plantation and within the elite enclave of historic Rose Hall, the new resort has already received a Leading Hotels of the World
designation — a rare pre-opening achievement. Other accolades include being named "One of the Top 10 Most Exciting Home Developments in the World" by Travel + Leisure and a five-star 2007 CNBC International Property Award.

"We feel that the personalized service, facilities and amenities of Solis, The Palmyra Resort & Spa coupled with the natural energy of the destination and its people will set a new standard in Jamaica," said Lester Scott, general manager. "Given all it has to offer, the resort will no doubt exceed our guests’ most exacting expectations."

Part of the resort’s major appeal is its location. Situated less than 15 minutes from Montego Bay International Airport, Solis features 13,000 square-feet of indoor meeting space and outdoor event lawns, an oceanview fitness center, nearby championship golf at three of Jamaica’s most prestigious courses, two swimming pools, a swimming cove and a private white-sand beach.

The property’s vast meeting spaces are also designed with weddings and other events in mind. For sunset wedding ceremonies, couples may consider staging their ceremony on the resort’s own boardwalk, which extends 300 feet out into the bay and ends with a gazebo overlooking the ocean. The property also offers fully furnished meeting rooms that are easily customized.

The property will offer 299 guestrooms as well as one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom suites,
penthouses and private villas that feature between 645 to 2,600 square feet of living space with large private terraces, full kitchens, premium cable high-definition television and high-speed Internet access.

Custom hotel amenities also extend into personal service. Guests interested in premium services have access to a private concierge, butler, maid and chef services in private villas. Food and wine connoisseurs will appreciate the property’s gourmet shop and wine cellar featuring fine wines from around the world, and dining options include authentic, internationally inspired dishes and organic options.

The resort also boasts Jamaica’s first branded 30,000 square-foot Espa destination spa. The spa will feature water gardens, charming terraces and enchanting courtyards with 20 treatment rooms on two levels.

According to Schulze, the list of outstanding amenities that the resort offers is a testament to the brand’s commitment to guest satisfaction.

"Our guests are high-profile individuals who maintain demanding, hectic schedules. Solis, The Palmyra is a private retreat, designed to welcome guests with staff and amenities that anticipate
every need so that time here is both restorative and productive," said Horst Schulze chairman of Solis parent company West Paces Hotel Group.

For clients who want to make Solis, The Palmyra a permanent fixture in their Jamaican stays, the property will also offer world-class residential real estate. Jamaica, a longtime favorite among the rich and famous, has attracted homeowners like Ralph Lauren, Keith Richards and Jane Seymour.

"Our goal was to create a destination that rivaled the world’s finest. With Horst Schulze and the Solis team, The Palmyra is firmly on the map as a true luxury travel destination," said Bob Trotta, developer of Solis, The Palmyra Resort & Spa.

It seems that, with Solis, The Palmyra’s outstanding collection of awards — before it has even officially opened — and stellar location, Trotta’s goal is close to realization.
