Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort & Casino is a different sort of self-contained property than one usually sees around the Caribbean and Mexico — and that’s because its management understands that guests don’t want to be contained. Instead, they want to get out and experience the island.
Aruba lives up to its slogan of “One Happy Island” with intent and purpose. The island’s mellow golden beauty is perfectly framed by neat and modern infrastructure, allowing visitors to explore both with confidence and independence. A recent commercial development boom around the Palm Beach neighborhood in Oranjestad, where Hyatt Aruba is located, has transformed the cultural and retail scene from sleepy to bustling.
Knowing that the island is so welcoming toward travelers, Hyatt Aruba works with four destination management organizations (DMOs) — Eco Destination Management, Palm Tours, Epic Aruba, Red Sail Sports — to create customized offsite experiences that incorporate local culture and showcase various neighborhoods and attractions. Food and beverage for the tours are provided by the hotel.
Below is a list of offsite highlights that clients can also experience through Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort & Casino and its DMO partners.
Dine in a Nature SettingHave breakfast or lunch in nature, perhaps at the white-sand Baby Beach. The setup can be elevated picnic style where guests dine at a table, with flatware, cutlery and sometimes even servers or live music. Such an experience is especially fantastic when combined with a soft adventure activity — think an open-top Jeep ride or a dune-buggy adventure.
Eat From Food TrucksGo island-casual and friendly with a food truck dine-around in a picturesque setting. This emulates the food truck roundups and block parties that are popular in mainland cities. However, unlike those come-one, come-all events, this nosh-and-nibble experience be arranged on a small scale just for a midsize private group.
Hire Local Musicians Bring La Hora Loca to your group event. Aruba Carnival performers are probably the most popular element to incorporate into any event, and many hotels and restaurants have a few show times scheduled during the week. The energy rises to a whole new level when a group of fully costumed, sparkling, dancing and drumming performers show up unannounced at an offsite event — especially in an iconic setting. With their appearance, you’ve got a real island-style party.
HistoryTap into history at Fort Zoutman, a downtown landmark that is enhanced for events with traditional decorative accents such as aloe and pottery. Local comfort food is recommended to serve in this setting.
Host a Luxe Private EventRent out a local mansion or stately home for a swanky private soiree. The beachfront Hyatt Aruba is perfect for a barefoot luxury dinner, but for black-tie events, guests can notch up the glamour in a historic mansion setting.
Party Under the StarsSet up an evening event under the stars for a medium- to large-sized group. Eco Destination Management has organized formal parties, complete with a dance floor and live band, for 150-250 people at natural landmarks including Ayo Rock Formations — unique rock formations near Aruba’s Ayo village — and Arikok National Park.
