Playa Hotels Is Letting Advisors Gift First Responders With Mexico Vacations

Apr 28, 2020

During a daily call a few weeks ago, the team at Playa Hotels & Resorts began to discuss how incredible the first responders are. They wondered what they could do to show their appreciation.

“We all felt so passionate about giving back to our unsung heroes,” said Andrea Wright, vice president, travel industry sales, for Playa Hotels & Resorts. “We have always made giving back to the community a pillar to our success and routine, and we pride ourselves on our ‘service from the heart.’”

The company launched its new campaign, “Heroes Service from the Heart,” in which travel advisors — handpicked by Playa’s business development managers — can select heroes in their community. Every day in the month of May, in honor of Travel Agent Awareness month, Playa will gift a travel award, including four-night trips for two to any Playa resort in Mexico. (Trip dates run from Aug. 1, 2020, to Dec. 15, 2021, and black-out days apply.) Playa will begin announcing awarded heroes on March 15.

“We felt it made perfect sense for the travel advisors to pick the winners as they are in the best position to identify local heroes,” Wright said. “These are their clients: doctors and nurses serving their town. We also want advisors to feel that powerful emotion of giving without any expectation but to say, ‘thank you’ from the heart."

We also want advisors to feel that powerful emotion of giving without any expectation but to say, ‘thank you’ from the heart.

Wright recognizes everything that advisors have done during this pandemic, and thanks them for their continued support, hard work and resiliency.

“There is light at the end of the tunnel, and the world is looking to travel again when it is safe,” she said. “Let’s stay the course together and celebrate you, our travel advisors, this month.”

As for Playa, the hotel group is continuing to prepare itself for the eventual return of travel.

“Please trust that we are doing all we can to create a safe experience where our mutual guests can feel confident and at ease — that they can relax and vacation like they used to,” she said. “Together we are stronger and better than ever.”
