Marjan Sharim of Balboa Travel in Los Angeles won the Win a Million HHonors Bonus Points Vacation Giveaway. Sharim was awarded the grand prize of 1 million Hilton HHonors bonus points and a six-day, five-night vacation for two at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa on Oahu.
For this very popular contest, Hilton received nearly 5,000 entries from travel professionals hoping to win one of six vacations to the Hilton Family properties in Hawaii.
Sales Person of the Year
Robert “Bob” Koch has been named Collette Vacations’ Sales Person of the Year, a title he has earned 15 years in a row. The annual award honors the individual sales person who generates the most sales revenue in the previous fiscal year.
“If every company had a Bob Koch, even downturns in the economy wouldn’t matter because his expertise and work ethic allow him to stay focused and generate sales. He is an inspiration to the sales management team and his peers,” said Kevin Kramich, Collette Vacations’ executive vice president of sales.
In addition to his dedication to Collette Vacations, Koch raises funds for the American Cancer Society and the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
Amawaterways Picks SantangeloRonald A. Santangelo — who was president of Peter Deilmann Cruises, North America, for 13 years — has been appointed vice president of business development for Amawaterways.
Prior to his tenure at Peter Deilmann Cruises, Santangelo served as president of Regency Cruises and also held several positions at Cunard Line, Ltd, including senior vice president worldwide marketing and sales. He was also a member of the Cunard Line board of directors. Santangelo is also a former marketing committee chairman for the Cruise Lines International Association and has served on numerous industry advisory boards, including the U.S. House of Representatives’ caucus on travel.
New Travel Bound PresidentTravel Bound has promoted Nico Zenner from general manager to president and simultaneously announced that bookings for the past three months have been 30 percent higher than the same period in 2008.
Zenner joined Travel Bound in 2005 as vice president of sales and marketing and, in 2007, was appointed to the position of general manager. Previously, he held executive positions at the Rail Europe Group, the Netherlands Board of Tourism & Conventions and Sabena Airlines.
