AmaWaterways is launching three new Rhine and Moselle cruises in 2018.
The seven-, 10- and 11-night itineraries take clients to some of the most dramatic scenery in Europe, including medieval castles, hillside vineyards, dramatic mountains and mysterious forests. The combination of the Moselle and Rhine Rivers in one river cruise is a romantic’s delight.
From the Black Forest to the Alps, this route couples the wine towns and bustling cities along the Rhine River with the tranquil, dreamlike Moselle Valley and its fairytale villages. Passengers can explore exceptional sites including the baroque gardens of Schwetzingen, Germany, and the preserved Eltz Castle located a half-hour drive from Koblenz, Germany.
Expect well-known spots such as Cologne, Germany, and Strasbourg, France, as well as lesser-known historic sites such as Cochem, Germany, and Trier, Germany. Trier is the oldest city in Germany and the birthplace of Karl Marx, with more than 2,000 years of history reflected in the cobble-stone streets, pastel buildings and Roman ruins.
There are ample opportunities to sample regional wines in centers such as Bernkastel and Rudesheim, Germany, and Riquewihr, France, but encourage your clients to try Roter-Weinbergs-Pfirsich Likor, a tart peach liqueur found only in the Moselle Valley.
The 148-passenger AmaDante will sail the weeklong Rhine & Moselle Splendors itinerary from Luxembourg to Basel, departing April 12, May 31, June 21, July 26, Aug.16, Sept. 6 and 27, Oct. 18 and Nov. 8. The April and November sailings are wine-themed.
