Scenic has announced a partnership with National Geographic Expeditions to launch a new line of National Geographic River Cruises, eight to 15 days in length. These will bring together Scenic’s all-inclusive luxury river cruise experience onboard 15 ships with National Geographic’s 129-year history of exploration and science.
Each National Geographic River Cruise sailing will be accompanied by an expert who will provide both educational presentations and informal discussions. Cruises on European rivers will also have a National Geographic photographer onboard to provide guests with professional techniques and help them advance their photography skills as they record their travels. The branded experiences will include choices from hiking and biking to in-depth learning experiences that focus on the natural world, culture and history. Destinations range from Myanmar to Bordeaux, France, and include storied rivers such as the Rhine, Danube, Duoro, Main, Moselle and Irrawaddy.
“We are excited and proud to align ourselves with a brand as historic and well-respected as National Geographic,” said Glen Moroney, chairman of Scenic. “We believe Scenic’s dedication to providing guests with the most exceptional five-star, all-inclusive river cruise experience available is a perfect complement to the enriching and authentic experiences for which National Geographic Expeditions is known.”
According to Nancy Schumacher, head of travel and tour operations for National Geographic, bringing river cruises into its portfolio allows its travelers to reach spectacular parts of the world in a unique way.
“Our trips are designed to celebrate remarkable destinations, to foster genuine interactions with local cultures, and to promote a deeper understanding of the natural world,” she said.
Bookings are open on departures starting next year through Scenic or National Geographic Expeditions.
