An Open-Door Policy

Nov 27, 2002
In 2003, Globus will debut its Open Doors packages, which allow travelers to choose from eight North American experiences that are not available to those traveling on their own or from other tour operators.

“We took the product we had in North America and super-charged it,” said Steve Born, director of marketing for Globus & Cosmos.

Globus is offering agents a Booking for Dollars incentive, whereby every time agents book and put a deposit on a 2003 Globus North America vacation through Dec. 31, they receive $50 in addition to commission earned. Following are some Open Doors packages available in 2003:

Great Resorts of the Canadian Rockies is a 10-day excursion visiting Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper aboard the Rocky Mountaineer. The trip includes entertainment by one of Western Canada’s most popular cowboy poets, Doris Daley; a visit to Heritage Park, a historical village; a guided tour of Canada Olympic Park (site of the 1988 Winter Olympics); frontier dining at Two River Junction; and accommodations at Banff Springs Hotel. The package is priced from $2,799.

The 12-day Pacific Coast Adventure visits San Francisco, Mount St. Helens, Puget Sound and the Oregon Coast. The trip features a stay at San Francisco’s historic Westin St. Francis, a private cruise of Lake Union and Lake Washington in Seattle, volunteering as deckhands aboard a fishing vessel and lunch at Fisherman’s Wharf. The Pacific Coast package is priced from $2,399.

The nine-day itinerary includes accommodations at Century Plaza Hotel & Spa in Los Angeles, an exclusive glimpse of acting classes at the Stella Adler Academy of Acting, a private tour of the Queen Mary led by one of the ship’s officers, free time in San Diego and dinner at Cannery Row restaurant. The package is priced from $1,899.

The Routes of the West tour is an 11-day journey through Colorado and New Mexico. The trip includes a ride through San Juan National Forest aboard the Durango-Silverton train, accommodations at the Red Cliffs Adventure Lodge in Moab, Colo., a visit to the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center in Albuquerque, N.M., and lunch at Rancho de Chimayo. The package is priced from $1,949.
