It’s not all bad news for travel suppliers in the age of COVID-19; tour operator Authentic Vacations opened a brand-new office in Scottsdale, Ariz. in early May, aligning with National Travel and Tourism Week. Its opening deepens the operator’s footprint in the West, as the new location joins global offices in San Francisco; Dublin; London; Edinburgh, Scotland; and Copenhagen, Denmark. Scottsdale was selected for the office’s location due to the city’s proximity to Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix.
“We wanted a location that was business-friendly, and we needed associates who could work well as a team,” said Allegra Lynch, president of Authentic Vacations. “Scottsdale became our clear choice. We’re very happy to be here, and to dig in and buck the tide. Scottsdale is a perfect fit for us, and we’re looking forward to a long and rewarding relationship with our newest home. We expect to be here for a long time.”
Although few suppliers are choosing to expand in the midst of the pandemic, Lynch says these types of challenges often push businesses toward creative solutions. Currently, a small group of agents are working in the new office, while others are working remotely.
