Discover the Canadian Rockies by Rail

Nov 15, 2016
RM_OCT2016_FEATURE

Since 1990, Rocky Mountaineer, the world’s largest privately owned luxury tourist train, has welcomed more than 1.7 million guests to inhale the mountain air and let nature take their breath away. The unparalleled experience onboard the all-dome fleet offers rich, historic storytelling, gourmet cuisine, and a first-hand look at the vast and untouched beauty of the Pacific Northwest and Western Canada. With four routes, our unforgettable all-daylight adventures offer romance and history, reminding us that traveling is as much about the journey as it is the destination.

Renowned for the luxurious bi-level glass-domed coaches, GoldLeaf Service allows for optimal viewing of soaring eagles and the occasional black bear or elusive moose. While revelling in nature’s wonders unfolding outside the window, Rocky Mountaineer Hosts entertain with colorful tales of the passing regions to complement the journey. In the lower level, internationally-acclaimed chefs create regionally inspired dishes with the finest and freshest local ingredients. Enjoy a classic dining setting with delectable menu selections, such as wild Pacific salmon, prime Alberta beef, and locally sourced vegetables. Each coach has its own kitchen, in which cinnamon scones are freshly baked every morning, and mouth-watering breakfasts and three-course lunches, complete with decadent desserts, are prepared.

SilverLeaf Service features spacious single-level domes with plush seats and extra-large windows to take in the awe-inspiring views. A gourmet hot breakfast is followed by a scrumptious three-course lunch, while the beauty of Canada’s nature and wildlife act as the perfect backdrop for a culinary adventure. Warm scones right from the oven and an afternoon wine and cheese service add special touches to the journey.

With more than 65 Rocky Mountaineer vacation packages along four rail routes, rich in culture, history and natural wonders, there is something for everyone. Popular travel options include Rail and Cruise packages, which pair a rail journey with an Alaska cruise that features massive icebergs; and Rail and Drive packages that include a self-drive tour of the iconic Banff and Jasper National Parks. With these two options, travelers have the opportunity to combine two dream vacations into one.

Another option is the Coastal Package route, which connects the Emerald City of Seattle with the Canadian Rockies. The train hugs the Pacific Northwest coastline, and, at times, water will be on both sides, giving the illusion that the train is floating on the glistening ocean.

One of Rocky Mountaineer’s most popular packages is the Circle Journey, which includes all of its exciting destinations, including Jasper, Lake Louise, Banff, Whistler, Vancouver, and Seattle. With a minimum of four days on the train, there is no limit to the wildlife sightings and breathtaking scenery along the journey.

With all routes stopping in Vancouver, experience Canadian culture, dine in vibrant restaurants, and stroll along stretches of metropolitan beaches. The Canadian Rockies offer unlimited options for both relaxation and adventure, and are the perfect way to start or end a journey. Rocky Mountaineer is more than an extraordinary trip — it is a feast for the senses.

Offer extended: Receive up to $600 per couple in added value to use toward an extra hotel night, dining, transfers, cruising, sightseeing, and much more.
