After suspending all trips in March 2020, G Adventures marked a major milestone last week with the departure of its first U.S.-based group trip since the COVID-19 pandemic began. On May 21, these guests embarked on the new Hiking Utah’s Big 5 itinerary, taking them to all the state’s national parks: Zion, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Arches and Canyonlands.
“Travel is coming back, and we think exploring our backyard is a great way to get back into it,” said Steve Lima, USA director of marketing for G Adventures.
We've worked hard to ensure safety and comfort for our passengers, CEOs (guides) and everyone who we encounter on these trips. Seeing them in action now gives us so much joy.
And the company is giving travelers plenty of opportunities to explore the U.S. This Utah trip is just one of 15 itineraries in G Adventures’ new domestic collection — United States of Adventure. Announced in February of this year, the United States of Adventure trips focus on showcasing the communities, landscapes and opportunities for adventure that make the U.S. unique. Within the collection are also four brand-new itineraries, including Hiking Utah’s Big 5.
For more desert landscapes, there’s also the Highlights of Southwest National Parks, a seven-day trip that starts and ends in Las Vegas and includes visits to Zion National Park, Monument Valley, Canyon de Chelly in Navajo Nation and Grand Canyon National Park.
Clients who appreciate more tropical vibes can opt for the 7-day Hawaiian Adventure: Beachin’ and Boardin’ itinerary, which is an “18-to-Thirtysomethings" trip (exclusively for 18-to-39-year-olds) highlighting the best of Oahu, from hiking Diamond Head to snorkeling, surfing and kayaking. Meanwhile, more national park action can be enjoyed with the weeklong Best of Yellowstone and Grand Teton trip, which starts and ends in Jackson, Wyo.
“We are so thrilled to be running domestic trips again, and have had such a great response from travelers, travel agents and local partners,” Lima said. “We know travel is a complex decision at the moment, and we take that very seriously.”
With positive responses from guests, as well as high booking numbers for these U.S.-based itineraries, G Adventures also plans to add more departure dates for trips that are mostly sold out. The company also has its ongoing Get Set for Summer Sale, which offers clients up to 20% off select trips now through June 30, 2021, for departures through Oct. 31, 2021.
In addition to the United States of Adventure collection, G Adventures will also bring back international trips — including tours in Costa Rica, Croatia, Greece, Peru and Egypt.
Whether travelers are headed on a domestic or international trip, safety is always a top priority for G Adventures, says Lima.
“We've worked hard to ensure safety and comfort for our passengers, CEOs (guides) and everyone who we encounter on these trips. Seeing them in action now gives us so much joy,” he said.
