New Culturious Itineraries

Jan 29, 2010

This year, Tauck is more than tripling its Culturious departures and expanding its operating season, with tours leaving every month in 2010 except January and July. In addition, three of the four Culturious itineraries will operate for the first time this year.

South Africa & Namibia

Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve // (c) 2010

Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve

12 days, from $5,690 per person, plus air
Day one, clients arrive in Cape Town, South Africa, to stay at the 12 Apostles Hotel and Spa and enjoy a leisurely walking tour of the city. The second day includes a 90-minute sea-kayak adventure along Boulders Beach and exploration of the Cape Peninsula including Simon’s Town on False Bay and a walk to Cape Point. On day three, clients head to the South African bush, traveling through the Cederberg Mountains and visiting Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve, where the exploration continues through day four. The following day, clients are en route to the Winelands where they explore the Langa Township. On day six, clients spend the morning exploring Stellenbosch on a bike journey. They return to Cape Town on day seven and fly to Windhoek, Namibia, heading to Sossusvlei in Namib-Naukluft Park. Day eight is a visit to the Sand Dune Sea and, on day nine, clients head to the Skeleton Coast, among other activities. Day 10 and 11 include visits to Pelican Point, Etosha National Park and Ongava Reserve. Clients fly home on day 12.

Costa Rica
Eight days, from $2,490 per person, plus air
The journey starts in San Jose and then heads into Costa Rica’s forested landscape for wildlife sightings. Day three includes a morning horseback ride on the beach, followed by a kayak cruise into the mangrove forest the next day. On day five, clients visit Irazu Volcano National Park, and day six includes a three-hour whitewater-rafting adventure. The last day of the trip offers a ziplining excursion. On day eight, clients transfer to the airport for their flights home.

Provence
Eight days, from $3,490 per person, plus air
Clients begin their journey in Aix-en-Provence and the following day walk in the footsteps of Cezanne with a stroll through his hometown. Day five includes kayaking on the Sorgue before moving on to Arles and St. Remy. A highlight of the trip for many clients will be shopping with a chef at the Avignon market and then learning the chef’s secrets in the kitchen while preparing a meal on day six.
