Funjet Enhances Travel Stimulus Package
Funjet Vacations is enhancing its Travel Stimulus Package with a new payment policy that allows customers to book a bulk scheduled air-inclusive vacation with an agent and only pay a $200 per person deposit. The deposit applies to charter/value flight vacation packages. Upon deposit, Funjet will ticket travelers immediately, lock in the ticket price and protect customers under airline policies in the event of schedule changes.
"We’re happy to take the upfront risk of ticketing customers upon deposit because it is part of our commitment to provide an exemplary end-to-end customer experience," said Mike Going, president of Funjet Vacations.
Funjet introduced the Travel Stimulus Package in November of last year in order to help agents provide vacation packages to clients without making an initial, significant investment.
"We listened to travel agents and we were hearing that they needed a few things to close sales," Going told TravelAge West. "The response has been very well-received and agents are finding that it’s crucial to make more aggressive sales, and they have to work harder for every booking in today’s economy. This stimulus package is multi-dimensional and tries to touch all fronts — pricing, communication, marketing and sales. We tried to make it really comprehensive."

AIMS Trips Now Commissionable to Agents
The Academy of International Medical Study (AIMS), which offers customized tour and cruise programs worldwide for doctors and their families, is making its trips commissionable to travel agents for the first time. Now, medical professionals can book trips to Europe, Asia, the South Pacific, South America and Africa with a travel agent, with agents receiving a 10 percent commission.
"For years, travel agents have been frustrated that some of their best clients were booking their trips directly through AIMS," said A. Ady Gelber, president and CEO of IsramWorld, the parent company of AIMS Tours. "So, we are very pleased to offer agents the opportunity to earn commissions on these trips — another way that IsramWorld continues to support travel agents, especially during these challenging economic times."

Travel Bound Offers FIT Oberammergau Package
Agents can now book independent travel clients on two departures of a five-day, fourth-night land-only escorted tour from Travel Bound to see the once-every-10-years Oberammergau Passion Play in Bavaria in 2010.
The new Oberammergau land package starts at $1,525 per person, based on double occupancy, and includes hotel accommodations for two nights in Munich; daily breakfast; roundtrip transfers between Munich and Oberammergau; two-night accommodations in Oberammergau; category 1 tickets to the passion play; Oberammergau Museum admission; several meals; shuttle service in Oberammergau and nearby villages; a tour of Neuschwanstein Castle; all hotel tax and service charges; and the services of a professional tour guide throughout the entire tour.
"Agents have been asking for this kind of Oberammergau package. This is the first time we are offering an escorted tour for agents’ F.I.T. clients," said Nico Zenner, general manager of Travel Bound. "While other tour operators offer much longer and more expensive Oberammergau package tours, we think clients are looking for something more affordable and flexible. This package allows them to see the passion play and easily combine it with other nearby destinations to suit their individual interests, budget and schedule. This gives clients much more value for their vacation dollar," he noted.
The two departures are slated for June 15 and Sept. 3, 2010 and agent commission is 15 percent. Roundtrip transfers between the airport and hotel can also be booked from Travel Bound with a 10 percent starting commission rate for agents.
