New Asia Tour Operator Debuts

Newly established Pan Pacific Journeys, based in Los Angeles, is a joint effort between travel-industry veterans Mary Barnett and Irene Chen, formerly of Pacific Delight Tours. Chen formerly served as Pacific Delight Tours’ vice president of tour development for China for more than 20 years, and Barnett was a senior regional sales manager at Pacific Delight Tours for 15 years. Together, the duo aims to parlay their Asia travel insight into immersive travel experiences for U.S. travelers in China, Tibet, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia and India.

The tour operator is offering a six-day Chinese New Year itinerary to Hong Kong on Feb. 11, 2010, with rates starting at $877 per person, based on double occupancy. The tour includes VIP seating for the Gala New Year’s Eve Parade, a traditional New Year’s Eve dinner, a tour of the New Year’s Flower Market and a morning tour of Hong Kong Island. A complimentary tai chi class is also included, and the tour costs include hotel accommodations and daily American breakfast.

Funjet Vacations Introduces New Travel Protection Program

Funjet Vacations has implemented a new Complete Coverage Travel Protection program following advice from its travel agency advisory board, in response to the increasing trend of clients’ reluctance to book trips “too soon” for fear of missing a better deal.

The new plan allows customers to cancel for any reason and receive a full refund, guarantees price adjustments if hotel prices lower, negates any revision fees, and insures against hurricanes as well as emergency travel issues. Prices for the Complete Coverage Travel Protection plan range from $69 for a one- to four-day domestic trip to $110 in Mexico, Hawaii and the Caribbean.
