Adventure tour operator Explore Worldwide has introduced its first tours to Algeria, marking its entry into one of North Africa’s less-visited destinations. The new itineraries, ranging from nine to 16 days, will begin departures in early 2026 and cover diverse routes across Algeria’s vast landscapes, including desert regions and historic sites.

“As the first adventure tour operator of our size to launch trips to Algeria, we’re offering travelers the chance to experience a destination few have explored,” said Katy Rockett, regional director of North America at Explore Worldwide.

Rockett highlighted growing interest in African tours beyond traditional safaris following the company’s launch of a Ghana tour last year. Algeria’s offerings include Roman ruins, Berber citadels, palm-filled valleys, and expansive Saharan desert terrain. Rockett says the surprises people with its combination of historical sites and natural beauty.

“One day you can walk down the Roman streets in Tipaza and Cherchell, and the next you are exploring Saharan landscapes,” she said.

The three new tours include the Algeria Sahara Desert Adventure (nine days), which features desert landscapes, towering dunes, canyons, and ancient rock art in the Tassili n'Ajjer plateau. It includes a five-night wild camping experience in remote locations; prices start at $2,490 per person, with departures from February through December 2026.

On the Wonders of Ancient Algeria & the M'Zab Valley (10 days) tour, guests visit Algiers; the Roman cities of Tipaza, Timgad and Djemila; and the M’Zab Valley desert communities. Rates begin at $2,350 per person, and the trip is available March through December 2026.

The third itinerary is the Ancient Algeria and the Sahara Desert (16 days) trip. The two-week journey goes from Constantine through ancient cities and the Sahara, with Mediterranean coastline views and desert camping under stars. Prices start at $4,490 per person, with departures from March through November 2026.

Explore Worldwide has more than 40 years of experience in small-group travel across 100 countries, emphasizing responsible and sustainable tourism. The company is B Corp-certified and a founding signatory of the Glasgow Declaration on climate action, aiming to reduce tour carbon emissions by 50% by 2030.
