Intrepid Travel has introduced Short Breaks, a collection of four- to six-day adventures developed specifically for the North American market. The launch represents the company's first product line designed exclusively for the region.

The collection features 10 new itineraries in Latin America and Europe, along with 45 refreshed trips worldwide, totaling 82 Short Breaks offerings. The new product includes 27 Independent Short Breaks for self-guided travelers.

According to company research, over half of Intrepid travelers surveyed indicated interest in shorter-duration adventures. The new product line addresses demand from travelers with limited vacation time while maintaining the company's small-group travel format.

Featured itineraries include a five-day hike through Oaxaca's Zapotec villages in Mexico's Sierra Norte Mountains, which supports a Zapotec community tourism initiative, and the Acatenango Volcano Hike and Antigua Short Break, a 4-day trek across Guatemala's volcanic landscapes at 3,766 meters above sea level.

"We know how transformative travel can be, but the luxury of time is not something that everyone has. Intrepid Short Breaks aren't just about taking time off — they're about making the most of it, with meaningful experiences that allow travelers to see and do more in fewer days," said Erica Kritikides, General Manager of Experiences at Intrepid Travel.

"Imagine a weekend trip to Guatemala — you climb an active volcano, hike along forest trails to visit a women-led regenerative farming project, learn to make tortillas in a Guatemalan culinary workshop, and then you're back in the office on Tuesday, a completely changed person. That's what these trips are about," Kritikides added.

The collection encompasses Intrepid's Explorer, Walking & Trekking and Cycling trip themes. All trips except Walking & Trekking options are offered in the company's Comfort style, which provides more inclusions and a higher level of comfort than its Original and Basix product lines.

The company has positioned Short Breaks as a sales tool for advisors, noting potential applications as pre- or post-cruise extensions, add-ons to business and family travel, and entry points for travelers who may book longer Intrepid journeys in the future. Itineraries are scheduled around weekends and public holidays to maximize convenience.
Short Breaks are available for booking now, with departures beginning in July 2026.
