6 Cozy Cabins to Book for Honeymooners

Feb 18, 2018
6 Cozy Cabins to Book for Honeymooners
Honeymooning clients may want a trip full of natural beauty and relaxation. // © 2018 Getty Images

Following the hustle and bustle that comes with most weddings, it’s no surprise that many couples would rather not spend their honeymoons on crowded beaches or in busy metropolises. Sending clients to destinations with striking natural beauty — or simply places where things move at a slower pace — is a great way to make their days of bliss lasting and memorable.

Cabins, in particular, can help take that romance to the next level, especially when they come complete with starry night skies, crackling fires and plenty of outdoor activities for couples to enjoy together.

We’ve rounded up six rentals where picturesque scenery and comfortable amenities await lovebirds.

Beaver Lake Cottages in Eureka Springs, Arkansas
Woodland serenity and charming conveniences await sweethearts at this jewel of the Ozark Mountains. Every cabin and suite at Beaver Lake Cottages features a Jacuzzi, a cushy king-size bed, stunning views of the lake and complimentary wine for the first night’s stay. In the nearby town of Eureka Springs — often called the wedding capital of the South — love is always in the air. Thorncrown Chapel, a magnificent structure of wood and glass, is a popular stop for those looking to tie the knot. In town, clients can explore the Victorian architecture by horse-drawn carriage and peruse boutique shops and art galleries.

Big Sky Luxury Rentals in Big Sky, Montana
No matter the season, love is sure to blossom at Big Sky Luxury Rentals by Natural Retreats. In the summer, horseback riding across wildflower-covered hills, rafting on the Gallatin River and ziplining are just a few of the adventures available to couples. During the winter, 5,800 acres of the “biggest skiing in America” come alive. And the company’s upscale private tours whisk clients to iconic sights in Yellowstone National Park, which is located only an hour’s drive away. After witnessing the spouting waters of Old Faithful, clients can return to the bubbles of a relaxing hot tub under the stars at one of Big Sky Luxury Rentals’ Cowboy Heaven Cabins. In the morning, watching the sunrise from the comfort of these wooden vacation homes situated above the tree line is equally resplendent.

BlissWood Bed and Breakfast Ranch in Cat Spring, Texas
Located an hour’s drive east of Houston, BlissWood Bed and Breakfast Ranch is set on the 500-acre working Lehmann Legacy Ranch and offers multiple romance packages. Picturesque meadows and bass-filled lakes dot the property, which is also home to elegant animals such as fallow deer and peacocks. Hiking through majestic stands of old oak trees or enjoying a gazebo picnic by the lake will surely kindle partners’ affection for each other. The Sunset Pond Cabin, a quaint cottage equipped with a queen-size bed, a full kitchen and a front porch to enjoy the waterfront, is perfect for couples. Here, the songs of bullfrogs and crickets contribute to the late-night ambiance.

Oakland House Cottages by the Side of the Sea in Brooksville, Maine
The charming one- and two-bedroom bungalows at Oakland House Cottages by the Side of the Sea are tucked in the trees along the coastline east of Maine’s Penobscot Bay. Book clients in the Ledges cabin, which is furnished with a king-size bed, down-to-earth decor, knotted-pine paneling and a wood-burning hearth; kindling is delivered in every season. On the exterior, an oceanside patio is only a few hundred feet from the property’s swimmable beach — a unique luxury in a place where most of the nearby shore is rocky.

Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort in Olympic National Park, Washington
At Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort, deep in Olympic National Park, guests can indulge in naturally heated mineral soaking pools that bubble up from the ground — a tranquil experience included with any stay. Surrounding the pools are 32 cabins; request a king bed for clients in a cozy Standard or Kitchen Cabin, a picture-perfect base for exploring the valley. For some exercise, the famous Lover’s Lane Loop is a 6-mile roundtrip hiking trail that weaves through old growth evergreens up to Sol Duc Falls. Of course, where there is nature, there has to be nurture: To ease achy muscles afterward, visitors can return to the resort for a poolside massage. Open season runs from spring to fall, based on weather conditions.

Tahoe Moon Properties in Tahoe City, California
Tahoe Moon Properties helps vacationers find the ideal place to stay when visiting the big blue lake. One of its feature cabins is the Honeymoon Cottage, tucked in the quiet wooded streets of the West Shore region. This spacious, two-bedroom home features a fireplace, a wood stove, a satellite television and an outdoor hot tub. But with popular recreation areas Hurricane Bay and Squaw Valley located only a few minutes away, honeymooners may want to limit time spent indoors. To fuel up for the day, couples can get some ingredients from the local grocer and take advantage of the full kitchen, or grab the best breakfast in town at Fire Sign Cafe. Whatever clients decide, they’ll work up an appetite after renting Jet Skis or signing up for wakeboarding lessons at Sunnyside Marina.
