Holiday Tea at the Heathman

Get out your appetites. It's time once again for holiday tea, an annual tradition at the Heathman Restaurant in Portland's Heathman Hotel.

Presided over by a two-story Christmas tree and festive decorations, the holiday tea is known for drawing shoppers, friends and families who are in the mood for a special celebration.

“We love providing this northwest twist on the English tradition,” said Heathman culinary director Philippe Boulot.

Along with a pot of tea, the adult menu includes such delectables as smoked salmon profiteroles, chicken salad panini, goat cheese crostini, cucumber sandwiches, deviled eggs, scones, banana bread, lemon bars and devil’s food chocolate cupcakes.

For the youngsters, the Peter Rabbit tea comes with hot cocoa, cheese blocks, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, carrot sticks with ranch dip, fresh fruit, ants on a log, snickerdoodles, coconut cake, banana bread and cupcakes.

Holiday tea at the Heathman runs from Nov. 27-Jan. 8, 2010. Seatings are daily at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Rates are $32 per adult and $14 for the Peter Rabbit tea. After the holidays, the Heathman’s afternoon tea continues throughout the year with a seating at 2 p.m. Monday to Friday and at noon and 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
