There’s a story about Iguazu Falls that I heard a few times on a recent visit to Argentina. Supposedly, when former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt first visited the falls in the 1930s, she looked at them for a moment and then muttered, “Poor Niagara.”
Indeed, the enormity of Iguazu Falls puts just about every other waterfall to shame, which is certainly part of the reason it was selected as one of the New7Wonders of Nature.
The falls span the border between Argentina and Brazil, but most of them are on the Argentine side, where visitors can explore the region from above the falls, near the bottom or even right in the river on a boat excursion.
However one takes in the majesty of Iguazu Falls, it’s the very definition of a bucket-list experience.
