Last month, ASTA’s Young Professionals Society (YPS) brought 16 members to Guatemala for networking opportunities, meetings, site inspections and guided sightseeing of the country’s top cultural attractions. The spring retreat was co-sponsored by INGUAT and Go Latin Travel.
“Everything about this trip, from the casual chats on the bus to the more formal roundtable discussion, inspired in me a deeper motivation I never knew was there,” said YPS member and travel agent Joshua R. Kittle. “I plan on getting more involved not only with YPS but with ASTA as well, and I credit this trip to persuading me to do so.”
Highlights of the tour included a visit to Chichicastenango for its colorful outdoor market, tours of the Maya villages along Lake Atitlan and a visit to the colonial town of Antigua. The retreat also included a pre-tour extension featuring the ancient Maya pyramids of the UNESCO-designated Tikal National Park.
