Randy Garfield, the president of Walt Disney Travel Company and the executive vice president of worldwide sales and travel operations for Disney Destinations, has retired.
In his 20-year career with The Walt Disney Company, Garfield has helped achieve major milestones including the global expansion of Disney’s sales teams, growth of both the Disney Institute and Disney Vacation Club and the launch of new businesses such as ESPN Wide World of Sports, Disney Cruise Line and Adventures by Disney.
“I’ve been incredibly fortunate throughout my career to have had many adventures that gave me an opportunity to work for the very best people and companies, and Disney is at the top of that list,” said Garfield. “Although I have elected to retire from full-time work at Disney, my intention is to stay involved in a few select elements of our industry that have been critical to accomplishing my personal vision of travel’s role in economic development, public diplomacy and personal health.”
Garfield will stay active on the board of the U.S. Travel Association and continue to co-chair the advisory team that is launching The Travel Effect, which takes specific aim at converting the multitude of days off that American workers earn annually but leave unused. In addition, Garfield plans to serve on the board of Rocky Mountaineer and spend the majority of his time on family and fun. www.disney.com
