Last month, the Southern California chapter of the American Society of Travel Agents (SoCal ASTA) held its fourth annual Luxury Travel Celebration, Symposium and Wine Tasting event at The Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles. Attendees included more than 250 luxury travel agents, including owners, managers and top producers from local high-end agencies, as well as some 60 luxury travel service providers representing top luxury cruise lines, airlines, hotels, tour operators, travel insurance companies and concierge services.
Guests heard from cruise and land executives as well as agency owner-managers about the direction of the travel industry over the next three to five years and how agents can stay ahead of those changes. Key points the panels addressed included profitability, work/life balance, value proposition, economic forecast and travel industry threats such as terrorism.
