On Nov. 21 at The Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles, TravelStore celebrated its 40th anniversary in business and 10th year as an employee-owned company. Some 500 guests, which included both travel suppliers and TravelStore staff, attended the festivities.
The hotel’s foyer was decorated like an airline lounge and featured a jazz combo, as well as a wall with video and memorabilia from TravelStore’s history. The ballroom featured a live string section, acrobats, themed buffet stations and multiple bars. Attendees were gifted with TravelStore flight bags, modeled after Pan Am bags, and a tribute book on the company’s history.
Members of TravelStore’s employee stock ownership plan committee awarded a trophy to company founder and CEO Wido Schaefer to commemorate the anniversary of the agency’s beginning, as well as its decade of being employee-owned.
Speakers at the gala included Ranjan Goswami of Delta Air Lines, Gladys Lyons and Barbara Staiger of Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Alex Sharpe of Signature Travel Network.
