Gary Maida was named general manager of Element Harrison-Newark hotel, which is slated to open later this month. Maida brings than 20 years of hospitality experience to the position. Most recently, he worked as general manager for Hilton Hotels Worldwide.
In addition, Klas Takkel was appointed as the hotel’s new director of sales. Takkel has eight years of hospitality experience, including time spent as the associate director of sales at the Hyatt Times Square in NYC.
“We’re excited to make our debut in the downtown Newark market,” said Maida. “Element Harrison will provide a fresh, new lodging option in the heart of downtown Newark, offering a re-energized approach to travel.”
