One of the more frustrating aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic has been the unpredictability of the situation. It feels like an endless series of steps forward and steps back.
Recently, we took at a major leap forward: the reopening of European destinations to U.S. travelers. In our latest cover story, we highlight some of the trends advisors can expect to see as clients begin booking trips to Europe once again. We know that the way travelers visit the continent will be affected by the lingering influence of the pandemic, so agents should be prepared for, and willing to adjust to, the new reality.
But even as we celebrate the resumption of travel to Europe, the news is full of stories about increasing COVID-19 cases and the growing concern over the Delta variant of the virus. At TravelAge West, we conducted our own research on this topic. As part of our Need to Know series, the survey of more than 400 advisors looks at the effects of the Delta variant on travel. Nearly two-thirds (61%) of respondents feel that the Delta variant has had a negative effect on travel in general, and 55% say they have already had discussions with clients about delaying, canceling or changing a trip due to the new strain.

You should also be sure to vote in our upcoming WAVE Awards. Many of the suppliers who earned our Editor’s Picks designation have done an exceptional job of supporting advisors, promoting travel and lending a hand to local communities throughout the pandemic. Now you have the chance to support your favorite companies by voting for the winners.
