What
MMGY Global’s recent Travel-horizons survey finds that more than half of U.S. adults (53%) believe it is essential to learn about cultures and gain perspective on new ways of life. Six in 10 believe it is vital to learn about the culture of the destination they are visiting.

Why It Matters
Travelers who show interest in local traditions and people are sure to be met with a better reception. These days, there are various ways to experience a destination’s culture that are more meaningful than a dinner show, so tailor trips by exposing clients to aspects of the culture that they’re likely to be interested in.

Fast Facts
- Half of U.S. travelers  want to explore a new culture that is different from their own (53%) or spend time with local people from the destination (48%)

- As a result of visiting a foreign country and meeting its residents, nearly four in 10 U.S. adults (36%) perceived them differently.

- Half (50%) felt a great affection for the people, while 39% thought they shared many social values.
