At the WTM World Responsible Tourism Day on Nov. 6., the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) and the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) announced their official agreement to work together to promote sustainable tourism around the world. GSTC will partner with WTTC and its Tourism for Tomorrow Awards to inform travelers and travel industry leaders about sustainable operations and how to travel responsibly. The GSTC recently announced its new Criteria for Destinations guidelines, which outlines the minimum standards that a destination should meet to be responsible to its surrounding environment and people. The WTTC Tourism for Tomorrow Awards has also added two new categories to broaden its sustainability agenda.
