Pleasant Holidays has announced that it will no longer sell Trump International Hotels in Hawaii, Panama and Las Vegas until further notice. The suspension is in response to remarks Donald Trump made regarding Mexican immigrants during his presidential candidacy announcement on June 16.
"Pleasant Holidays is saddened by Trump's derogatory remarks regarding Mexican immigrants to the U.S.," said Jack E. Richards, president and CEO. "His statements do not align with Pleasant Holidays’ corporate values, which is why we felt it necessary to remove all hotels affiliated with Donald Trump's name from our portfolio."
Affected hotels include Trump International Hotel Las Vegas, Trump Ocean Club International Hotel & Tower Panama and Trump International Hotel Waikiki Beach Walk. Current bookings will be honored, but no further bookings will be accepted until Pleasant receives further clarification regarding Trump’s comments.
Other businesses that have cut ties with the GOP presidential candidate following his comments are NBC, Univision and ESPN.
In a follow-up to his candidacy announcement, Trump said, “What can be simpler or more accurately stated? The Mexican government is forcing their most unwanted people into the U.S. They are, in many cases, criminals, drug dealers, rapists, etc.”
