This month, Hilton Hotels Corporation and DLF signed management
agreements to develop seven hotels in destinations such as New
Delhi, Kolkata, Trivandrum and Chennai which will add an
approximate 1,450 rooms to the joint venture company’s
portfolio.
“The execution of these new management agreements with Hilton is
a major step in the overall DLF strategy to rapidly scale up DLF
presence in the hospitality sector to 25,000 hotel rooms in the
next five to seven years,” said Shakti Singh, the managing director
of DLF Hotel Holdings Ltd.
The agreement marks the second stage in the DLF-Hilton Joint
Venture Company’s overall strategic development plans to develop 75
hotels in India over the next five to seven years.
An affiliate of Hilton Hotels Corporation will manage the seven
new hotels, each belonging to a particular market segment of the
Hilton Family of brands: Homewood Suites by Hilton, Hilton Garden
Inn and Hilton, the most upscale of the three segments.
“Through our Hilton Family of brands, we are targeting the
different needs of business and leisure travelers in India, across
the price points. Our alliance with DLF intends to announce more
new hotel projects in India and the near future,” said Koos Klein,
the president of Hilton Hotels Asia Pacific.
Of the new developments, three will be built in the fast-growing
district in southwest Delhi, Dwarka: The Hilton Dwarka, Hilton
Garden Inn Dwarka and Homewood Suites by Hilton. An international
convention center is included in the plans, along with
approximately 800 hotel rooms.
