Appealing to travelers interested in the history and treasures
of Beijing while enjoying reduced rates during the off season, Ritz
Tours has introduced a Beijing in a Week winter special.
Popular sites include Tiananmen Square, the world’s largest
public square, the ancient Forbidden City, the peaceful setting of
the Summer Palace at Kunming Lake, the historic Ming Tomb Museum,
the Temple of Heaven and the Great Wall that meanders through the
northern part of the country.
Two free days of leisure allow travelers to stroll the city’s
streets, souvenir shop, enjoy an optional excursion to the hutongs
of old town Beijing, and absorb centuries of ancient culture.
Priced from $777 per person, double, the special features
roundtrip airfare from Los Angeles or San Francisco, accommodations
at the New Otani Hotel, sightseeing in air-conditioned motor
coaches, meals and entertainment, and tour guides.
Single supplements cost an additional $300 per person. Christmas
surcharges apply. Departure dates are available every Saturday
through March 25. Add-on airfares are available for departures from
cities including Boston, Miami, Philadelphia, Dallas, Washington,
D.C., Atlanta, Chicago and Toronto.
Ritz Tours also is offering a value-oriented 10-day China
Discovery package with air-inclusive prices starting at $1,499 per
person, double, with an Early Bird bonus of $100 off per person for
bookings made by Dec. 31.
The package includes Beijing host city for the 2008 Summer
Olympics with nighttime activities including a Peking Duck feast
and a Chinese acrobatics show. Travelers then head Xian, the
historic starting point of the famed Silk Road. The last stop on
the program is the cosmopolitan port city of Shanghai. Also
available is an optional tour to the “garden city” of Suzhou, known
for its network of canals and silk fabrics.
The package price features roundtrip airfare from Los Angeles or
San Francisco by Cathay Pacific Airways, airfare between cities in
China, five-star accommodations, sightseeing in air-conditioned
motor coaches, meals and entertainment, and tour guides.
Departure dates are available March through November 2006.
Single supplements cost an additional $400 to $450 per person
