Qantas Airways, Qantas Vacations and the South Australia Tourism Commission have joined forces to offer savings to travelers who buy a South Australia AirPass. With the purchase of the Airpass, clients will receive an additional flight to Australia’s lush Kangaroo Island at no charge. The offer, which starts at $999 per person, includes an international flight to Australia from either Los Angeles or San Francisco and three flights within Australia, in addition to a free roundtrip flight to Kangaroo Island. An adjunct three-night package can also be added for as low as $295 per person, and includes accommodations, professional tours and transfers.
Kangaroo Island, one-third of which remains abundant wilderness, is located off the southern coast of Australia. At 90 miles long and 35 miles wide, it has 280 miles of coastline and is a setting for a myriad of outdoor activities. As its name implies, the island has a large kangaroo population, but is also known for its diverse variety of other animals, including koalas, wallabies, penguins and seals.
The island is also home to the Flinders Chase National Park, which spans 180,000 acres. The park boasts Admiral’s Arch, the habitat of 6,000 native fur seals, and Remarkable Rocks, a collection of gigantic granite boulders perched loftily above the ocean.
The complimentary flight to Kangaroo Island is an effort on the part of Qantas and the Australian Tourism commission to expose U.S. travelers to the island’s undomesticated forests and the general region of South Australia. Kangaroo Island is also home to 30 vineyards and boasts an emerging culinary scene.
Kangaroo Island is located approximately 70 miles below Adelaide in South Australia, which is the fourth largest of Australia’s six states. South Australia is also an exciting hub of activity with abundant wine production, natural parks, the southern hemisphere’s largest covered market and the opal mining capital of the world. A flight to South Australia is included in the AirPass package.
The free flight will only be offered through Dec. 31, and is contingent upon the purchase of Qantas Airways South Australia AirPass.
