Ritz Tours has introduced a 12-day Yangtze Essence program for
the winter that combines stays in Beijing, Xian and Shanghai with a
Yangtze River journey.
Beginning in Beijing, tour highlights include visits to
Tiananmen Square, the ancient Forbidden City and a stroll through
the grounds at the Summer Palace and Kunming Lake. The journey
continues with a visit to the historic Great Wall and stops at the
Ming Tomb Museum and the Temple of Heaven.
Several days in Xian offer the chance to see Emperor Qin Shi
Huang’s Terra Cotta Warriors, the ancient City Wall and the Big
Wild Goose Pagoda. Evening dining and entertainment includes an
Imperial Dumpling Banquet and Tang Dynasty Stage Opera
performance.
The Yangtze cruise is onboard a deluxe Victoria Cruises vessel
and travels between Chongqing and Yichang, offering view of
forest-covered mountains and the steep cliffs of the Three Gorges.
The cruise offers excursions as well as onboard lectures, cultural
presentations and demonstrations, and entertainment.
Ending with several nights in Shanghai, tours include the Yu
Garden, Nanjing Road, and the Bund, Shanghai’s picturesque
waterfront area.
Priced from $1,699 plus taxes per person/double, the tour includes
roundtrip airfare from Los Angeles or San Francisco ($1,849 per
person/double from JFK in New York), airfare between cities in
Asia; hotel accommodations, sightseeing in air-conditioned coaches,
meals and entertainment and tour guides.
Departures are available Dec. 1 and Dec. 29. Next year,
departures are Jan. 5, Jan. 19, Feb. 2, Feb. 16 and Feb. 23.
