AndBeyond has introduced a new expedition yacht to its South America portfolio. The AndBeyond Galapagos Explorer began operations in June 2024, offering a pair of seven-night routes in the eastern and western Galapagos Islands.

The 124-foot vessel accommodates a maximum of 12 guests in six suites and cabins, with two expert guides accompanying each departure. This guest-to-staff ratio makes it one of the most exclusive yachts in the region.

"We have long believed that the best way to encourage our guests to help protect the world's wild places is for our skilled guides to help travelers not only fall in love with those places, but also to gain an understanding of the threats that they are facing,” said Joss Kent, executive chairman and CEO of AndBeyond. “This is what we are aiming to do with our luxury yacht, where two knowledgeable guides will host just 12 guests, showcasing the wonder and mystery of this exceptional destination."

The Galapagos Islands, designated a World Heritage Site in 1878, are home to numerous endemic species and unique ecosystems. The yacht’s eastern itinerary includes visits to Kicker Rock off San Cristobal Island and a visit to Gardner Bay on Espanola Island to see critically endangered waved albatross. The western route features stops at Sombrero Chino Island and encounters with the Santa Fe land iguana on Santa Fe Island.

Both itineraries offer activities such as snorkeling, hiking and birdwatching. Prices for the seven-night cruises start at $10,950 per person.

The yacht underwent a refurbishment focusing on sustainability, including an overhaul of engines and generators to improve fuel efficiency.

"While some advanced sustainability elements, such as certain solar and electric technologies, are not yet readily available in this environment, we are closely monitoring development in these areas," Kent said.

AndBeyond plans to extend its Oceans Without Borders initiative (which already includes ocean conservation projects in Africa) to the Galapagos, exploring opportunities for marine conservation in the region.
