Excitement is in the air as cruise travel readies to ramp back up, and sailings that depart conveniently from California are on the docket. Three brands in particular — Norwegian Cruise Line, Princess Cruises and Royal Caribbean International — are highlighting 2021 and 2022 departures from Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Norwegian Cruise Line
Next year, Norwegian Cruise Line will sail Norwegian Bliss from L.A. down to the Mexican Riviera. In March and April of 2022, the 2018-launched ship — complete with an onboard go-kart racetrack and laser tag arena —will head to Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Itineraries will be seven days in length.

Princess Cruises
As for Princess Cruises, a total of five MedallionClass-equipped ships will embark from Los Angeles and San Francisco for the 2021-2022 season (from September to April) to Mexico, Hawaii and California.
Royal-Class Majestic Princess will embark from L.A. on seven-day Mexican Riviera and seven-day Classic California Coast voyages. By spring 2022, its upcoming new sister ship, Discovery Princess, will also visit Mexico and California on weeklong cruises from L.A. Mexico ports of call will include Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta, and California destinations range from San Diego to Santa Barbara and Monterey on three-, five- and seven-day sailings.
We’re excited to return to Los Angeles to add bigger, bolder vacation options along the West Coast.
Grand Princess and Sapphire Princess will also sail from L.A. on longer 15-day Hawaiian Islands voyages to Maui, Oahu, Kauai and Hilo (on Hawaii Island). Plus, Grand and Sapphire will cover 10-day Baja Peninsula & Sea of Cortez journeys to Cabo San Lucas (overnight), La Paz, Loreto and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
Meanwhile, Ruby Princess will cruise from San Francisco to Hawaii (roundtrip for 10 days to the same islands as Grand and Sapphire), Mexico and the California and Pacific Northwest coasts, as well as transit the Panama Canal. Its 10-day Mexican Rivera cruises will add Manzanillo to the mainstays of Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta, and its weeklong coastal itineraries will include opportunities in Astoria, Ore., and Seattle.
Royal Caribbean International
Royal Caribbean International will bring a newly refurbished ship to California when Navigator of the Seas cruises from L.A. year-round beginning in June 2022. The ship will regularly traverse three-, four- and five-night routes to Catalina Island, Calif., and Ensenada and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Special winter holiday voyages will expand to seven nights with overnight calls in Los Cabos.

“California was calling us home once again, and what better way to reintroduce Royal Caribbean than to bring our next-level cruise vacations to the City of Angels and make it a year-round adventure starting just in time for summer,” said Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International, in a press release.
“We’re excited to return to Los Angeles to add bigger, bolder vacation options along the West Coast.
