Just in time for cruise travel’s resumption in North America and around the world, three of Carnival Corporation’s brands have updated their mobile apps to improve the guest experience. Carnival Cruise Line, Princess Cruises and Seabourn Cruise Line have all received digital enhancements. Here’s what your clients can expect.
Carnival Cruise Line
Carnival Cruise Line’s HUB App was already award winning, but now it touts added functionality from safety to dining. Clients can use the handheld portal to check in for their cruise, submit their health questionnaire and receive notifications to complete their onboard muster check-in.
Waiting in line is no longer necessary thanks to virtual queuing for both guest services and other attractions like BOLT, the new roller coaster at sea coming soon to the Mardi Gras vessel. Customers can also virtually reserve seats at various venues, including restaurants. Once space is available, passengers will be notified when to arrive.
The app’s ability to order pizza and beer delivery has also expanded to include more food and drink options that can be delivered anywhere onboard, while all ship menus are conveniently available by scanning QR codes.
“In today’s world, smart phones have become ubiquitous for travelers, and they provide a great platform to help our guests make the most of their cruise vacation,” said Ron Dillehay, vice president of guest marketing and technology for Carnival, in a press release. “We continue to leverage the popularity of the HUB App to enhance our guests’ pre-cruise and onboard experience. The updates we are announcing today will build upon the convenient features that have made the HUB App the most popular app in cruising, and further enhance our guest experience on board.”

When Princess Cruises returns to service, the entire fleet will be equipped with OceanMedallion technology, and the MedallionClass app will be improved along with it. Adding to its holistic wayfinding and vacation-enhancing abilities will be CrewCall, an on-demand way for guests to summon a crew member to their exact shipboard location for assistance. Even if a passenger does not have a smartphone, the service can be utilized via interactive stateroom televisions.
“Every minute a guest has to stand in line to wait for service or to have a simple question answered diminishes the value of their vacation,” said John Padgett, chief experience and innovation officer for Carnival Corporation, in a press release. “OceanNow with CrewCall really delivers on the MedallionClass ‘service now’ philosophy, and maximizes the vacation value for all Princess guests by responding in the moment to their wants, needs and desires without any inconvenience.”
What’s more, CrewCall Chat will let guests text a question or request for virtual answering as needed.
“The new capability is yet another example of how Princess is leveraging MedallionClass technology to increase high-touch and personalized service versus replacing it,” according to the release.
Seabourn Cruise Line
Last but not least, Seabourn Cruise Line has improved its Seabourn Source mobile app. Like on Carnival, guests are now able to fill out pre-cruise health assessments and then pull up their boarding passes for easy embarkation. They can also use the app to review dining menus at their leisure.
“Our team has refined our services to be intuitive and personalized, and Seabourn Source is in keeping with our goal of providing the most seamless service for the benefit of our guests,” said Gerald Mosslinger, senior vice president of guest operations for Seabourn, in a press release. “Once they’ve downloaded Seabourn Source, our guests will find many ways it will enhance their travel experience to make their voyage easier, more convenient and more enjoyable."
The app further permits clients to plan future cruises and reserve shore excursions, as well as peruse onboard daily schedules and guest accounts; chat with fellow passengers; access the internet and more.
