For the 2008-2009 cruise season, Peter Deilmann Cruises is
offering three 15- to 20-night Africa packages. Focusing on
destinations in southern and eastern Africa, the new itineraries
combine sea time with explorations of the region’s beaches,
wildlife, cities and villages.
Aboard the flagship MS Deutschland, guests on all three routes
will make port calls in South Africa, Durban and Port Elizabeth.
Additional destinations, which vary between itineraries, include
East London and Richard’s Bay in South Africa; Zanzibar, Tanzania;
Mombasa, Kenya; Port Louie, Mauritius; and Walvis Bay and Luderitz
in Namibia.
The 18-night cruise, which departs from Port Louis, highlights
Namibia with a three-day stay in Walvis Bay, a lagoon known for the
home it provides to 200,000 birds of 50 species; and a visit to
Dune 7, one of the highest crests of the coastal dune belt (and the
perfect location for views and picnicking). The ship also visits Le
Port, Reunion; and Durban, East London, Port Elizabeth and Cape
Town in South Africa. The cruise departs Dec. 17, 2008. Prices

Deilmann’s 16-night itinerary sails from Cape Town to Mombasa
and focuses on destinations in South Africa and the continent’s
eastern regions. The vessel visits the sandy island of Zanzibar in
Tanzania; Mombasa, the second largest city in Kenya; and Cape Town,
Port Elizabeth, Durban and Richard’s Bay in South Africa. The
cruise departs Jan. 17, 2009. Prices range from $9,284 to $20,348
per person, based on double occupancy.
Cruising roundtrip from Cape Town, the 13-night voyage also
visits Walvis Bay, Namibia; four ports in South Africa; and
Luderitz, the country’s first German settlement. The cruise departs
Jan. 4, 2009. Prices range from $8,117 to $17,457 per person, based
on double occupancy.
In conjunction with these voyages, Peter Deilmann has also
announced a special $99 roundtrip airfare and pre-arranged shore
excursion package, originally valued up to $700. Flights are
offered from 73 gateways. Travelers arranging their own air may
deduct $750 per person from the cruise fare. Groups of five couples
or more save an additional 10 percent off published cruise
fares.
