Intrav, Inc., Forms Specialized Division for Kosher Cruise and Travel Market

Sep 13, 2005

Intrav, Inc., the company comprised of the award-winning deluxe tour operator INTRAV and small-ship expert Clipper Cruise Line, has formed a new division, Chosen Voyage at INTRAV, which will offer dedicated cruises and travel itineraries designed exclusively for the kosher-observant Jewish market.

Intrav, Inc., has appointed Chosen Voyage founder Matthew Shollar as vice president of this new division. Shollar, a lifelong travel enthusiast, has expertise in marketing and building strong customer relationships, as well as itinerary development for the kosher travel market. Well-versed in Judaic tradition and the unique aspects of kosher law, he created Chosen Voyage in 2002 to introduce luxury cruising at the highest standards of Jewish law to kosher-observant vacationers. Joining Intrav provides the ideal infrastructure of a larger organization to effectively create the best possible mix of cruises for the kosher-observant leisure traveler.

Chosen Voyage at INTRAV is the only initiative within the luxury travel market to focus on a full complement of all-kosher cruises using INTRAV’s and Clipper’s deluxe and first-class arrangements. The first such opportunity will be Clipper’s Exploring the Yachtsman’s Caribbean (an eight-day voyage through the U.S. and British Virgin Islands) aboard the 138-passenger Yorktown Clipper that is scheduled to depart on Jan. 19. The full line of cruises, as well as further details including the day-by-day itineraries, amenities, dates and prices for each of these trips, will be announced later this year.

The Chosen Voyage at INTRAV ships will operate at the highest kosher standards under the supervision of a nationally renowned agency on these selected cruises, offering every dining and itinerary amenity to guests on these exclusively kosher departures.

“Chosen Voyage at INTRAV is a testament to the size and sophistication of the kosher travel market,” Shollar said. ”This audience is eager to experience new and varied travel opportunities. It boasts very high demographics, is well-educated and well-traveled making this group a perfect fit for the highly respected travel options that Intrav has provided over its 45-plus years in existence. Many of today’s kosher-observing Jews seek a luxurious, in-depth cruise experience where they don’t have to compromise their religious observance and where they are not a minority among thousands of mainstream customers. Chosen Voyage at INTRAV is the creative answer to this growing desire.”

Founded in 1959, St. Louis-based Intrav, Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Kuoni Group, one of the world’s largest travel companies.
