This piece was last updated on May 11, 2021.

With sailings from the U.S. still on pause due to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Conditional Sail Order, Silversea Cruises is joining many other cruise lines in recommencing sailings outside the country. To that end, the luxury line’s new Silver Moon will now make its maiden voyage from Greece on June 18, 2021, while the new Silver Origin expedition ship will sail its inaugural season in the Galapagos Islands starting June 19, 2021.

“Our guests share our excitement for our eagerly anticipated healthy return to service,” said Roberto Martinoli, president and CEO of Silversea, in a press release. “In recent months, we have seen the cruise industry resume responsibly in destinations around the world, and we are delighted to announce these new inaugural sailings for our flagship.”

Ahead of this voyage, all guests and crew will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to board. This applies to all of Silversea’s upcoming sailings except those from Australia, where protocols are under further evaluation.

“Vaccinations will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our guests, crew, and the communities we visit, which we prioritize above all else,” said Martinoli. “Paired with our science-backed onboard procedures, which leverage on the expertise of Royal Caribbean Group’s Healthy Sail Panel, vaccinations will enable our guests to travel deep into the world once again, with a renewed sense of appreciation for our beautiful planet.”

Inoculation requirements are one of many safety measures put in place by parent company Royal Caribbean Group’s Healthy Sail Panel. Other protocols include coronavirus testing, mask wearing at certain times, physical distancing and increased air filtration, at least for the time being.

Silver Moon will depart on 10-day itineraries to Santorini, Paros, Mykonos and Crete, as well as Haifa (Israel) and Cyprus. Voyages go on sale April 15.
