Emerald Cruises took delivery of Emerald Luna, the line’s ninth Star-Ship, on April 8, ahead of its July 21 christening in Amsterdam. The 180-guest riverboat has already completed its first eight-day Holland and Belgium in Bloom voyage to start the line’s 2022 Europe river cruise season.
“The launch of Emerald Luna marks an exciting new addition to our growing fleet, following closely on the heels of last month’s debut of our first-ever ocean-going superyacht, Emerald Azzurra,” said Maggie Carbonell, vice president of marketing at Scenic Group USA (the parent company of Emerald Cruises). “The addition of Emerald Luna allows more opportunities for our guests to experience Europe’s most sought-after river cruise itineraries in our signature Emerald Cruises style.”
The brand-new vessel reflects the line’s contemporary style, with a triple-decker atrium, as well as a heated indoor swimming pool that converts into a cinema. Accommodations feature the line’s signature open-air windows that mechanically open to French balconies with interior decking.
Luna is scheduled to be christened by godmother Vanessa McGovern, travel industry advocate, educator and co-founder of Gifted Travel Network.
The vessel will join sister ships Emerald Sun, Emerald Sky, Emerald Star, Emerald Dawn and Emerald Destiny traversing the Rhine, Main, Moselle and Danube rivers.
