In what the line is calling a “glow-up” of its first ship, Scarlet Lady, adults-only cruise line Virgin Voyages is planning a refurbishment of the ship during a dry dock taking place from Nov.14-28. Similar redesigns will eventually take place across the rest of the Virgin fleet, as well.
“Since her much-anticipated debut in 2021, Scarlet Lady has sailed the world, welcoming hundreds of thousands of Sailors onboard while delivering irresistible vacations,” said Nicole Huang, vice president of fleet experience for Virgin Voyages. “We’re listening and giving travelers more of what they’ve asked for — this includes more suites, luxe new cabanas and fresh, vibey dining concepts — so Sailors can truly live the life of a rockstar.”
The brand says that its signature experiences of award-winning dining, acrobatic entertainment and Scarlet Night will remain, but other areas of the ship will be enhanced.

New Suites
To meet the demand for suite accommodations, 36 existing Sea Terraces will be replaced by 24 new “Seriously Suite” RockStar Quarters on Deck 11. As the most popular category, these 352-square-foot amenities will encompass a European-style, king-size bed, a “Peek-a-Boo” shower, a vanity desk, an in-room record player and vinyl albums, a stocked minibar and a Yellow Leaf hammock on the balcony.
“We wanted to give our Sailors a taste of the rockstar life, and worked with Tom Dixon to design the 78 RockStar and Mega RockStar Quarters,” Huang said. “They did such an amazing job, and there’s so much demand — our Massive Suite is often booked a year or more in advance. We’re answering in a big way by adding suites, so more people can live their best lives.”
Razzle Dazzle
The home to a vegetable-forward brunch, Razzle Dazzle will introduce “loungey” booths to replace communal tables, according to the line, as well as a new Chinese-inspired menu.
Following the success of its Asian Night Market concept, “Lucky Lotus by Razzle Dazzle” will be offered every evening. Meanwhile, brunch will continue to offer current favorites with a few Chinese-inspired dishes added in.
The Wake and Ground Club Too
The Wake seafood and steakhouse will be updated with a raw bar that can better display the venue’s high-end wine collection. And the secondary Ground Club Too coffee bar, found in The Galley food hall, will still offer Intelligentsia Coffee by day, but will also be redesigned into a stylish full-service evening cocktail bar thanks to new countertop seating, emerald benches, rust-hued couches and wooden accent details.
Pool Deck
There are already 10 cabanas available to rent overlooking the starboard side of the ship, but another six VIP cabanas will be added by the ship’s Aquatic Club pool. Each can be booked individually or connected for groups.
Spa and Casino
The Redemption Spa and its coveted thermal suite will see the addition of a second treatment room outfitted for couples’ therapies. And the ship’s main casino will add more slot machines, as will the designated smoking room.
Last but not least, the ship’s livery will receive an update, soon featuring a new figurehead mermaid painted on the bow.
Following the renovations, Scarlet Lady is scheduled to navigate a 16-night transatlantic journey from Rome to Miami prior to longer Caribbean itineraries. Destinations will include a mix of St. Croix, Costa Maya, Roatan, San Juan and Puerto Plata, plus Bimini to access Virgin Voyages’ Beach Club in the Bahamas.
