Fiji, with its sun-drenched beaches and best-in-class outdoor activities, is home to some of the friendliest people on earth, making it the ideal destination for a family getaway. Many of its resorts also offer award-winning kids’ clubs that highlight local culture and offer activities such as fish feeding, snorkeling and cooking classes.

Parents with younger children can expect to be assigned a complimentary, dedicated nanny, while older children are generally teamed up with a buddy.

Here are nine Fijian kid-friendly resorts worth considering.

Castaway Island, Fiji - Castaway Kids' Club
The Castaway Island, Fiji resort is just a short catamaran boat ride away from Fiji’s more frequented Vanua Levu, perfect for skittish children not up for taking a small plane to more distant islands. Surrounded by white sand beaches and vibrant coral reefs, and home to a family beach bure (large bungalow) that accommodates up to 10 people, this is the perfect getaway for families. The resort’s Nuku Marau family pool area comes complete with an in-pool waterfall and a poolside grill.

Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort - Fiji Islands Resort Bula Club
Not surprisingly, the programs at Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort are incredibly eco-focused. They are also designed to include optional parent participation. Glass-bottom boat rides with the resort’s marine biologist are popular with club participants.

Koro Sun Resort Jungle Kids’ Club
Koro Sun Resort’s new two-story Edgewater Villas are ocean-adjacent so children can jump right into the water, directly from the villa’s private deck. Popular activities for children include handline fishing demonstrations and a private waterfall hike that includes splashing around in a freshwater pond. Another favorite is a kayaking trip, accompanied by resort staff, to nearby bat island, named after the fruit bats that make their home there.

Malolo Island Resort Fiji - Tia’s Treehouse
At Malolo Island Resort Fiji, groups can reserve one of four family bures that can accommodate up to seven people. The onsite kids’ club, Tia’s Treehouse, offers a distinctive seven-day program called “Yanu Yanu,” focusing on a different local theme every day — from Fijian culture and arts and crafts to the exploration of marine environments.

Nanuku Resort and Spa - Lailai Children’s Club
Families are drawn to Fiji’s newest resort, Nanuku Resort and Spa, both for its spacious accommodations as well as its wide array of kid-friendly activities. Nanuku’s Beachfront Residences — two buildings spanning 4,800 square feet — can accommodate up to 17 people or be sectioned off for smaller groups. Surfing lessons are a popular activity at the onsite Lailai Children’s Club, and guests on longer stays can even enroll their children in the local international school.

Outrigger on the Lagoon, Fiji - Little Riggers and Beach Riggers
Located along the Coral Coast and considered Fiji’s adventure center, Outrigger on the Lagoon, Fiji, offers plenty of family activities both on the property and off. The resort is located only a golf cart ride away from Kula Eco Park, an environmental preserve that protects and breeds endangered species. There, children can get up close and personal with bats, crested iguanas and a Peregrine Falcon. The kids’ club emphasizes cultural activities; or parents can choose a four-day customized program through the MeiMei nanny service.

Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort and Spa - Little Chief’s Club
One of the few resorts on Fiji’s Coral Coast with a sandy beach, the Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort and Spa has a perfect fun zone for children: a tranquil lagoon where parents don’t need to worry about rough tides or rocky sea bottoms. A popular activity at the resort’s Little Chief’s Club is Yanuca Idol, which involves an exciting talent show produced by the little ones themselves.

Treasure Island Resort - Treasure Island Kids’ Club
At Treasure Island Resort, children can help care for endangered hawksbill turtles, feed hibiscus flowers to rare iguanas and learn how to “plant” new coral. The resort also features a children’s spa called Kidzpa, which offers mini massages as well as temporary tattoos.
