Our recent trip to Fiji was one that my family and I will cherish forever. There is so much more to the South Pacific country than just nice beaches and clear water. The people we came across were some of the most kind I have ever met. Throughout our short stay, we met a lot of residents, all of whom seemed genuinely happy to talk to us. As we walked around during a village tour, everyone came out of their homes to greet us with a heartfelt “Bula!”
Two villagers took us up a mountain for a hike, and we came face to face with one of the biggest waterfalls I have ever seen — it was even bigger than my 38-story apartment building in New York City. While my sister, brother and mom went behind the waterfall, my father and I stayed behind to take pictures (and because I was scared to go under such an enormous waterfall). It turns out that I made the right decision, because even though my mom walked all the way behind the waterfall, my brother and sister had to back out. My sister, Emma, said that it was one of the scariest things she has ever done.
Our family vacation is just one of the many memories I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
