While Las Vegas may not immediately conjure up images of a family-friendly vacation — nor seem like a premier destination for skiing or snowboarding — Lee Canyon, located about a one-hour drive from the Strip, is hoping to change that.
With a $35 million expansion underway, as well as exterior improvements in progress, Lee Canyon has recently added two quads and 14 new runs and is a great option for parents wanting to hit the slopes after playing the slots. The resort’s Snow Kids program, which runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., helps children practice snowboarding skills while they explore the surrounding mountain. For those seeking more personalized lessons, the resort also provides private sessions.
Additionally, the resort hosts school and youth groups, and group rates are available for up to 300 people. The resort provides discounted lift tickets, equipment rentals, food service and access to its Hospitality Yurt or Private Upper Deck.
If parents or little ones are wary about snowboarding, the resort also lets guests go tubing down the mountain. Whether skiing, snowboarding or tubing, Lee Canyon provides visitors with at least one sure thing in Vegas.
