You have Las Vegas-bound clients with deep pockets. They want a
high-end, exclusive experience. They’ve stayed at all of the top
resorts on the Strip, and now they want something different.
If they’re ready to spend $5,000 to $20,000 per night, you can
book them at the Mansion, an exclusive property adjacent to the MGM
Grand Hotel. Built three years ago at a cost of $210 million, its
guests stayed there by invitation only until last summer, when the
Mansion started taking reservations from anyone able and willing to
pay the price.
It’s so exclusive that few guests even know it’s there. It’s
hidden behind the massive MGM Grand, and although it shares the
same parcel of land as its big- sister property, it’s operated as a
separate hotel. It has its own concierge, restaurant, reservations
department and entries, including one via a private casino, where
the dealers wear tuxedos.
The Mansion’s 29 two- and three-bedroom villas are housed in a
structure whose architectural and interior design is 180 degrees
from that of the MGM Grand. It’s style is classic European, with
such elements as hand-forged iron gates, colonnades, Austrian
crystal doors, stained-glass windows, a reflecting pool and formal
gardens. Its art collection tops 800 original pieces, including
works by such artists as David Hockney, Henri Matisse and Pablo
Picasso.
Upon entering the Mansion, you suddenly leave the din of Las
Vegas behind. It’s quiet, peaceful and climate-controlled. The
villas surround a garden enclosed by an 85-foot-high atrium.
Despite the similar overall design of the villas, which range in
size from 2,400 square feet to 12,000 square feet, each unit
features different details from artwork and antiques to color
schemes and furnishings. All have living rooms and dining rooms,
and several feature media rooms, indoor pools, balconies, pianos,
bars and libraries.
Additional amenities include private butler service, limousine
transfers to and from McCarran or Executive Airport and a private
tour of the Mansion. In addition, fresh fruit, bottled water,
freshly baked pastries, flowers, newspapers and magazines are
delivered daily.
Upon request, and for an additional fee, guests also receive
personal shopping services at local retail stores. With enough
lead-time, they can obtain preferred seating at shows throughout
Las Vegas. Private dinner parties are available, prepared by a
local gourmet chef, such as Philippe Rispoli, the Mansion’s
executive chef, or Michael Mina of Nobhill. And for $500 per
person, villa guests can reserve a tee time at Shadow Creek private
golf course, based on availability.
The Mansion’s private spa has no menu of services, because every
request for any type of treatment is honored,according to
spokeswoman Jenn Michaels.
